HAPPY PAINT
------------
*** INTRODUCTION ***
Happy-Paint is a Shareware program from Germany, translated into
English for Floppyshop.
It requires a one-megabyte system. Desk accessories can not be
summoned while the program is running - there is no desktop!
The program is monochrome (in ST-High resolution) and seems to be
incompatible with 'Harlekin'. Happy-Paint does run on the Falcon.
This user-guide has been written without reference to any German
documentation. The control-screen (the one on which the icons are
displayed) has the default fill-patterns on its lower half.
The upper part may be treated as four distinct sets of controls;
from left to right these are:
First Control Panel : input/output, deletion, information.
Second Control Panel: drawing functions, lines, shapes, text.
Third Control Panel : effects, enlargement/reduction, movement.
Fourth Control Panel: settings for the various functions.
Below the fourth panel is the Graphic Mode selector (see page 9).
The currently selected fill-pattern is shown in the box at the
right of the fourth panel.
The only other control is on the left, below the first control
panel; a box with a number showing. This is where you can switch
between the program's five available picture-screens. A click on
the left mouse-button moves the number upwards, a right-click
takes you to a lower number.
When the control-screen is showing, you can look at the current
picture-screen without first having to select a new function -
just press the RETURN key on your keyboard.
A right-click on the mouse brings back the control-screen.
Pictures and Objects are loaded into the program in 'Replace'
graphic-mode, regardless of which mode is currently selected.
The UNDO key on your keyboard works for most functions, but not
when the picture-screen is showing; you must return to the control
screen and then press it, before doing anything else.
Happy-Paint has a built-in screensaver, a mouseclick returns the
screen to normal. The saver is not adjustable.
The following pages of instruction are aimed mainly at beginners,
so my apologies to experienced graphics-users for repetition and
sometimes stating 'the obvious'.
